Oh, I remember the pogo stick! When we were kids this was our next big thing. Great jumping around on the street, and quite cool when you used to ride the street with rollerblades.
The pogo sticks made a horrible peeping sound when water made the stick rusty inside, and the springs didn't work that well anymore. Sweet memories.
So this the next thing which long boarders, bikers and "traceurs" have to share the streets with? I have to admit it, this looks so much fun. Let's check this out in the big apple. Soon.
One day Paris shopping-a life inspiration day
The show of Ann Demeulemeester started at 11u30 am, and 20 minutes later we were ready to hit the town.
It's always difficult to choose which 'quartier' to visit, when you only have a few hours.
It's been a while since we went to Colette, so we started there. But we first passed by my all time favorite perfume shop of Comme Des Garcons. A small but exclusive selection and the most beautiful 'degradé' pink windows. I'm sure we know this store at least 15 years and it is still as pure and beautiful as then.

Colette kids, with music selection, always refreshing new choice. |
Lunch at 'Très Honoré'. Tip from Domusplus out of Wallpaper Magazine. http://www.treshonore.com |
'Très Honoré' chandelier. |
Moi, Miss Kate, checking out next stop. |
Very light, fresh raw salmon. Always good. |
Golden macarons, but no pictures from outside towards the window allowed!! Can you imagine??? So, no name mentioning. |
Cute, private perfume boudoir at the Galerie de Valois. |
Rick Owens!! His store in Palais Royal became a real flagship since the American designer moved his headquarters to Paris in 2003. Find it inside the Palais Royal in 130-133 Galerie De Valois. |
Beware of the life-sized Rick Owens wax figure, standing behind the counter desk. Wicked! |
Quick check in Go Go Paris. |
Toilet wall covering at merci store coffee shop. |
Merci unconventional chair selection |
Go...Go Paris-a life inspiration day
Every time we head for Paris, we forget our city map. All right, we know our way very well in the city of light, we are familiar with the hip and happening 'quartiers' and know Palais de Tokyo by heart (and know they serve the best lunch à Paris) but if you don't want to walk with your smartphone in hand for the latest new 'hoods' (looks like a tourist, no?), a map comes in handy.
But we didn't bring ours.
Colette (with our eyes closed, what do you think), was a must visit yesterday and off course they had thé city guide of the moment: GoGo Paris. This IS the essential city guide of the 500+ hottest spots to eat, drink, shop, sleep, and hang out in Paris this autumn and winter.
This cult Paris fanzine turned insider blog gogoparis.com spots the best from Paris’ hyperactive arts, food and fashion scenes since 2005.Their unique TAG system makes finding what you’re looking for super easy: filter by ‘budget’, ‘wine bar’, ‘open late’, ‘menswear’, ‘shoes’, ‘vegetarian’, ‘vintage’, ‘wi-fi’ etc.

Ann Demeulemeester chatting before the start of her show. |
The advantage to come early: you see the designers in a blanc space, the vibe of respectful expectation. Nice. |
My man, Ivan. |
Yours truly. |
Yours truly, Kate Stockman, blogger The Squid Stories (haha!!) |
Mister Scott Schuman, Sartorialst. |
Our Belgian hat designer Elvis Pompilio looked great in an off white Russioan inspired Kozakken outfit. Always fun, always stylish. So was friend JP Mas, also in a forest inspired shirt. |
My man, again. |
Strike the pose with Christophe Urbain, from the fashion stores Rewind (Men/Woman). Great to pop in to some friends unexpected. |
Ready for the show. Menkes has arrived, and Anna doesn't do men. |
Preparing the scene, get rid of the plastic. |
The Ann Demeulemeester show evoked somehow a
Victorian mood. But there was more. Her silhouettes, (very) young man with loose long hair, dark brows and eyes, red lips looked like Thomas Hardy priests mixed with Quacker darkness.
Demeulemeester's send monastic figures in dramatic full-length mohair sweaters on the runway and these were one of the most eccentric silhouettes, beautiful and new. As the designer stayed true to her black universe while blending in voluminous jackets, floor-length parachute military parka's and
sleeveless topcoats. Every piece was oversized or extra long, using even longer sleeves, pleats
and feminine-inspired volumes, or delicate embroidered tapestry.
Nick Cave as the obligate soundtrack for an introvert, dramatic show, too short as ever.
No color, off course, but all the possible shades in black and very very pure white.
The 'finale', after a 15 minute show. |
Ann's ultra short hello. |
The usual '10 seconds after the show rush out'. 5 seconds later the room is empty. Off we go! |
