Wasbar Antwerp open! - a life inspiration story

No need to explain the concept. (See post on the very first WASBAR in my home town Ghent, October 14 th 2012.)

Wasbar in short: a huge success story about washing your laundry in a hip bar slash hairdresser salon slash meeting spot, great press, enthousiastic fans and a waiting line for the Sunday Brunches ("Yuri and Dries, please get me a table next week: we come with 7...")

It was a question of time that a second venue opened to serve other cities for their dirty laundry and need for a drink.
Antwerp was the obvious choice and a fantastic spot was found in a much bigger building.
Never change a winning team: owners Yuri and Dries, design agency Pinkeye http://www.pinkeye.be, PR lady Saskia from The Wicked PR http://www.thewicked.be and sponsors Ecover, Electrolux and yes,... the sexiest underwear brand in Belgium Eskimo http://www.originaleskimo.com, all present!

Brand new extra's? The tasty food concept 'WASBAR TOAST' by Ghent's famous Wim Ballieu from 'Balls & Glory' http://www.ballsnglory.be. How does it work? Take two bread slices and fill them with minced meat, cheddar and pigment, mozzarella and pesto, ham and cheese off course and for sweet-lovers choco-pasta. Beside Wim's toasts Wasbar serves salads, 'Wasbar-made' ice tea and smoothies.
Good news: also WASBAR Ghent signed for this new food project.

Next week, take your laundry basket and head off to Ghent or Antwerp. Enjoy your stay and look if one of the machines didn't get the name of your grandma...Say hi to the boys from me.

Goodbye website....
For more than a year this beautiful picture was the (only) homepage of my website www.katestockman.com
For over a year, I was 'preparing for take off'.(Been very busy in my first year you know)
Preparing for take off....Well, I did.
My full operational web hub is a fact, and I'm proud of it.
Check it out, and let me know what you think.
Enjoy this image for the last time, it's replaced by many others to come.
Bye website, hello new one.

Look good at this picture.
Yes, you see it right?
There is an entire villa built on this 26 floor apartment block.

Over a period of 6 six years Zhang Biqing-a doctor in Beijing-constructed  a 'villa in a montain' on the rooftop of his own building.
The guy had no building permission what so ever, but could keep on building without any interference of the city authorities.

A sign of times, where people live next to each other without knowing what the other does and not even care?
It's unbelievable that such a construction can be build without anybody taking notice. Now that the inhabitants of the building are aware of the 'fata morgana-like' dream house above their head, they start protesting.
A little to late to react in times where mass-city individualization is spreading like a virus.

But, let's face it, it creates weird, intriguing images that are proof of human's imagination, creativity and drive. And that counts for something too.

Dear readers.

You may wonder where I've been. I know its been 5 weeks since I posted my last story on The Flemish Food Fest but I have a damn good reason...
The past month, I discovered the lovely Indonesian islands Java and Bali. Off course I could have blogged from there, but I think its so much better to be present for a 100% when you travel. To feel, taste, and smell the beauty of an amazing country and that's not behind a Mac.
Off course I'll bring you some great squid stories about my trip, stories on things, people, food, culture and nature that moved me.

Let's start in striking beauty with this view on the Bromo volcano in Java.(We woke up at 3 am in the Lava Lodge (The best view of the village but for the rest a very basic, worn out motel), drove up the mountain in a 4x4 Jeep, and waited for the sunrise)
This is what we were rewarded with....
